"Ruler of men." According to Greek mythology, Andromeda married Perseus, who had saved her from Medusa, a monster of the sea. Andromeda was said to be an Aethiopian (meaning African) princess. Ancient Aethiopians considered Perseus and Andromeda the progenitors of the black race.
